Dr. Marian Limacher, FACC, FAHA, is a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida. She is the K30 Program Director for the Advanced Postgraduate Program in Clinical Investigation funded by the NIH to prepare promising trainees and junior faculty for successful clinical research careers. She served as member of the Advisory Committee to the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health from 2000-2004 and previously was a member of the NHLBI Board of Extramural Advisors. She has served in leadership roles in the American College of Cardiology (Committee Chair, Trustee), American Heart Association (Committee member, Committee co-chair), American Society of Echocardiography (Committee chair) and Society of Geriatric Cardiology (Director, Past-President).
She is an Attending Physician for the Cardiology service and clinics at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida and is a member of the echocardiography faculty. She is the author or co-author of over 100 publications. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for Shands Healthcare. Dr. Limacher is an active researcher and is currently the Principal Investigator for the University of Florida Clinical Center for the Women’s Health Initiative. She serves on the WHI Executive Committee, chairs the Outcomes Adjudication Committee and is the site PI for several WHI ancillary studies. She was awarded the 2000 Faculty Research Prize in Clinical Science and was named a University of Florida Research Foundation Professor in 2004. |
